Stephen Smith
Stephen Smith has the knowledge and enthusiasm to guide clients through the maze of technology options. He can direct clients to the right practice management systems and patient care tools to best serve patients and the practice running smoothly. Steve has a unique outside-in perspective on the dental industry that allows him to see past limits and blind spots.
His career began in the high-tech and telecommunications arenas with firms such as Nortel Networks. With this experience, he became a business manager for a large urban dental practice, transforming it from conventional to cutting-edge. Steve was instrumental in bringing digital radiography, soft and hard tissue lasers, CEREC restorations, and VELscope oral cancer screening to the practice he manages.
He also instituted an advanced periodontal program, imaging software, case presentation programs and templates, and monthly management reports created by practice software. With this hands-on experience, Steve can overcome the financial and logistical challenges of getting these systems and tools functioning at an effective level.
Through technological innovations, as well as the relocation and expansion of the office space, Steve helped create a deluxe experience for patients in atmosphere, customer service, and oral care. Clients responded positively to these improvements, and revenues have increased threefold. Steve has seen how investments in key technology can make everyday tasks faster and easier for staff; they can also diagnose and solve dental health issues for patients.
Because he wanted patients in other practices to benefit from modern advances, Steve now lectures on laser dentistry and technology integration in the modern dental practice.
